Ghana is an amazing place in Africa and if you are visiting Accra there, here are the top three places to see and the top three things to do there:
See the National Museum
The National Museum is situated at No. 2 Barnes Road and holds three galleries where tourists can learn about Ghana’s past, traditions, and see art and other exhibits.
See Kakum National Park
The Kakum national park is 600 kilometers in size and home to many animals and plants. Don’t miss the Canopy Walk, which is 40 meters off the ground where you can enjoy nature from a unique perspective on this 350 meter long walkway.
See Elmina Castle
Elmina Castle is an historic place which was originally a slave fort built in 1482. It is famous for the room of no return, where rebellious slaves were held. There are guided tours, as well as a gift shop.
Go to Jamestown
Jamestown was founded during the 17th century. It has always been a fishing harbor and is considered as one of Accra’s historical treasures. Visitors can go there and learn all about Accra’s history.
Go to Labadi Beach
Accra has several beautiful beaches and one of the best known is Labadi Beach. There is also a hotel on the property and if you stay there you can go to the beach for free, otherwise they charge a fee. Musical performances are frequent and feature things like reggae, cultural drums, playback, and hiplife.
See the City of Kumasi
Kumasi was the capital of the Ghana’a Ashanti Kingdom and is famous for gold jewelry, wooden carved stools, and Kente cloth. Go to the Manhyia Palace Museum to see historical items. Or, you could to meet the king of Ashanti, as he greets his public once every 42 days.
