If you have a day or two to see Belize City, here are some great activities to see and do:
Belize Zoo
The Belize Zoo has native rescued animals that roam freely in enclosures that mimic their natural habitats. The zoo teaches conservation and protecting and rehabilitating wildlife and is a great spot for families to visit.

Museum of Belize
Museum of Belize is inside the famous Queen Elizabeth’s prison. Inside visitors learn about the city’s culture and history through exhibits like old photos, a stamp collection, insect collection, and Mayan artefacts.

St. John’s Cathedral
St. John’s is the oldest Anglican Church in Central America and is more than 150 years old. There is a cemetery and a school and it is a good example of British colonial architecture. It is a part of a regular Belize City tour.

The Government House
The Government House is an example of a preserved colonial building and is now a house of culture. Previously it hosted foreign dignitaries, as well as being the home of Belize’s governor general. It houses vintage furniture, photos, and historic documents.

Altun Ha
Located about an hour away, Altun Ha is an example of one of the city’s famous archaeological sites. It was once a Maya temple and is the location the famous Jade Head of the Maya Sun God Kinich Ahau was discovered.

Belize Tourism Village
The Belize Tourism Village is the city’s port of entry so you can’t miss it. You can buy things like duty free items, alcohol and souvenirs. It’s a good place to start your tour of Belize and get your bearings as you decide what other fascinating places to see and things to do during your trip to Belize.
